Context /
The Great Bear Rainforest is part of the coastal temperate forest, that spreads over 600 km along the Pacific Coast of British Colombia in Canada. That pritine forest is a unique ecosystem that hosts numerous decidious and non-decidious tree species, and wildlife.
That forgotten forest is now under pressure from foresters, environmentalist groups, and Nuxalk first Nations that are claiming for their historical right over the land.
Clearcutting is the most effective extraction method used by foresters, but it as a dramatic impact on the ecosystem and the community that rely on the forest. Therefore, local environmental groups and scientists are willing to get that area protected.
